Android-based Gemini now offers response capabilities concerning your Gmail inbox queries.

Last month in June, Google unveiled Gemini's introduction to the side panel in Google Docs and Gmail for Workspace users. Apart from various functions, the introduced feature enables users to query Gemini concerning their Gmail inbox. You can request details recognized within specific emails, for instance, "What are this quarter's expectations?" or "What is my client's contact number?" and Gemini is expected to meticulously browse your emails to acquire the necessary information.

However, despite its potential usefulness, the feature presents certain limitations. Initially, it is only compatible with select Google Workspace clients. If you, your job, or your educational institution do not subscribe to one of these packages, you won't encounter Gemini in the side panel at all. Furthermore, it was restricted to desktop use. Even if you had a Workspace subscription, you required a desktop device to inquire about your inbox with Gemini. Access the same Google Account on a mobile device, and you would be left in the dark.

Yet, this situation is evolving. Google announced on Thursday it will introduce this Gmail Q&A feature to Android devices. Regrettably for those using iOS, Google assures the feature will soon be introduced on Apple devices as well.

The feature operates much the same way on mobile devices as it does on desktops: Open the Gmail app, then either tap the black Gemini star in the top right corner, or tap the summarize this email option that might appear. You can select from three preset prompts, or type your own prompt in the allotted text field. Regardless of your choice between Google's prompt or a specific question, hitting the send button will prompt Gemini to attempt fulfilling your request. In accordance with Google, Gemini can scan both your inbox and your Drive, so if the pertinent information is stored in Google's storage, Gemini can attempt to locate it there, too.

As on desktop, this feature necessitates a GeminiBusiness, Enterprise, Education, or Education Premium add-on for Google Workspace, or an active subscription to Google One AI Premium. If you meet these requirements, and still cannot locate the option in your Gmail app on Android, it may take some time before it becomes available on your account. Google initiated the rollout of the feature on August 29, and estimates that it could take up to 15 days for it to appear on all accounts.

After Google announced expanding Gemini's Q&A feature to Android devices, there's anticipation for it to be available on iOS devices as well. As the mobile version functions similarly, users can now utilize Gemini on their Android devices by tapping the black Gemini star or the 'summarize this email' option, requiring a compatible Google Workspace subscription or Google One AI Premium.

To further leverage the potential of Gemini on mobile devices, technology enthusiasts hope for future advancements in integrating this feature with more Gemini's tech capabilities, such as seamless usage across multiple Google platforms, including Google Meet and Google Drive.
