Mandatory professional internships for all school levels are advocated by the head of an employment agency, Andrea Nahles.

Andrea Nahles expresses her disapproval towards the proposed €1,000 incentive for individuals acquiring citizenship.

The Federal Employment Agency's chief, Andrea Nahles, disapproves of the proposed 1000-euro incentive for job seekers on unemployment aid. "We don't require this incentive to perform our duties," she stated in a chat with "Wirtschaftswoche". "What we actually need is for the politics to allow us to work undisturbed. That's what I wish for."

The federal government has given the green light to a reward exceeding 1000 euros for unemployment benefit recipients who maintain a work contract in a socially protected occupation for a minimum of 12 months. This rule is set to become effective on January 1, 2025. However, this plan also encounters opposition from the coalition's constituents.

Nahles also issued a warning regarding the potential deterioration of the labor market, specifically in the manufacturing sector. "This industry is crucial to Germany's export strategy, as well as for innovations. It would be highly beneficial if the federal government came up with a joint industrial policy strategy promptly," she added to "Wirtschaftswoche". "From a labor market standpoint, I'd like to say: If there's an immediate need for intervention, then there should be."

The premium being discussed is actually a reward exceeding 1000 euros for unemployment benefit recipients who secure a job in a socially protected occupation for a year. Despite Nahles' support for addressing labor market issues, she expressed concern about the potential impact of this premium on the manufacturing sector.
