police - An 18-year-old man is alleged to have committed murder - autopsy scheduled

After the violent death of a 55-year-old man at the Uelzen train station, the victim is expected to be autopsied presumably on Monday afternoon. A police spokesperson stated that the 18-year-old suspected perpetrator, who is alleged to have pushed or kicked the 55-year-old, is also expected to be presented to the judge today. The older man from Lüneburg fell several stairs and sustained a skull-brain injury, dying despite resuscitation efforts at the scene. The 18-year-old fled initially and was arrested during the night on Sunday.

According to earlier reports, the suspected perpetrator is a Moroccan man who lived in a shelter for asylum seekers in Uelzen. The man is currently being held in custody, the police spokesperson added. Charges of manslaughter are being investigated against the 18-year-old.

According to the current investigations, the suspected perpetrator and the 55-year-old did not know each other. It was unclear whether a quarrel preceded the fall down the stairs. The young man was only a few hours before the death of the 55-year-old released from police custody. Previously, he had been noticed for a purse snatching and bodily harm. At the Uelzen bus station, the 18-year-old is alleged to have hit a 31-year-old in the face with an open hand.

The investigation into charges of manslaughter is being conducted by the police in Lower Saxony, specifically in Uelzen. The obduction of the 55-year-old victim is scheduled to take place in a medical facility in Lüneburg, due to its proximity to the incident location. Despite intense efforts by the emergency services, the cause of the 55-year-old's tragic death was determined to be a skull-brain injury.
