Amidst withdrawal demands: Biden announces continuation of campaign tour

Amidst speculations about a possible withdrawal of Joe Biden from the US Presidential race, the Democrat has announced more campaign events for the coming week. "I'm looking forward to getting back on the campaign trail next week," said a written statement from the US President, who is seeking a second term in office in the November election.

Biden had to pause his campaign appearances due to an infection with the Coronavirus. Currently, he is isolating himself at his private home in Rehoboth Beach in the state of Delaware.

The 81-year-old is under heavy pressure within his own party due to his age and doubts about his mental fitness. Every day, more and more Democrats are calling on their colleague to withdraw from the Presidential race. Recently, signs have been growing that Biden might actually do so - media reports indicate that he no longer rules out this step categorically.

The first row of Democrats is reportedly trying to move Biden towards a withdrawal behind the scenes. His deputy, Kamala Harris, has been increasingly in the spotlight as a potential replacement.

Publicly, the US President has so far rigorously rejected all withdrawal demands from within his own ranks. In his statement, he looked towards the further campaign, warning the people in the country of the danger through the politics of his Republican opponent Donald Trump, while at the same time campaigning for his own vision for the country. "There's a lot at stake," he urged. "Together, we will win."

Despite the escalating calls for his resignation within the Democratic party due to concerns about his age and mental fitness, Biden has refused to step down and continues his campaign tour. However, his campaign events have been halted temporarily due to his Coronavirus infection, and he is currently on a compulsory break at his home. Amidst these challenges, Biden has urged the public to be vigilant about the Coronawarning and to support his vision for the country, emphasizing the significance of the upcoming election.
