Baghdad and Washington have been engaged in talks for numerous months regarding the withdrawal of the coalition, a goal openly declared by Iraq.

American military personnel eliminate fifteen IS militants in Iraq

In a recent joint operation with local troops, around 15 ISIS militants met their demise. This information came from military sources, who reported that the cell was armed with an abundance of weapons, grenades, and explosive-filled suicide vests. Central Command, the U.S. military body responsible for operations in the region, provided this detail.

The operation, focusing on ISIS higher-ups, took place in western Iraq alongside Iraqi forces. There were no reported civilian casualties, but this information is yet to be confirmed independently. The exact location of the operation was kept under wraps by the U.S. military, and details regarding the equipment used and the number of troops involved were not disclosed.

Despite this, ISIS remains a danger to the region, its associates, and the U.S., according to the military. The U.S. soldiers will continue to relentlessly target these terrorists, as per their declaration.

Five U.S. soldiers sustained injuries during the skirmish. Two others were hurt as a result of falls. Two of the injured were transported for medical attention.

As of now, the U.S. has around 2500 troops deployed in Iraq, with an additional 900 in nearby Syria, all part of the coalition. Iraq and the U.S. have been engaged in discussions about the coalition's withdrawal for some time now. A gradual withdrawal is planned, but no specific timeline has been shared publicly.

The 'Terrorism threat' posed by ISIS in the region persists, despite the significant loss of their militants in the operation. In response, the U.S. soldiers are committed to continuously targeting these terrorists.
