Almost every tenth woman in the north is divorced

The number of divorced women in the north is higher than that of men. The proportion of married women, on the other hand, is lower - as is the proportion of single women.

Statistics - Almost every tenth woman in the north is divorced

Every tenth woman (9.7 percent) in Schleswig-Holstein is divorced. For men, this number is lower at 7.2 percent, according to the Nord Statistical Office. The proportion of married women is therefore lower (40.9 percent) than that of married men (42.2 percent).

Thirty-nine percent of women are unmarried according to the data, while 47.7 percent of men are. However, significantly more women are widowed with 10.6 percent, while the proportion for men is only 3 percent.

According to the statisticians, the average age of women in the North is 46.8 years, while for men it is 44.3 years. Women are therefore two years and six months older than the men of the region.

In terms of the total population, women make up 51.1 percent of the majority in Schleswig-Holstein. The life expectancy at birth for girls is 82.9 years. Boys, on the other hand, have an average life expectancy of 78.4 years, as the statisticians further reported.

The Statistical Office for Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein revealed that the divorce rate among women in Schleswig-Holstein is higher than that of men, with 9.7% of women being divorced compared to 7.2% of men. The data also showed that a larger proportion of women are widowed in Schleswig-Holstein, with 10.6% of women being widowed compared to only 3% of men. The disparities in divorce and widowhood rates highlight different societal experiences for men and women in Schleswig-Holstein.
