Air traffic at Frankfurt am Main airport has resumed partially in the morning

Flight traffic at the largest German airport in Frankfurt am Main has partially resumed in the morning after a disruption by Climate Activists. "Flights are taking off and landing again," said a airport spokesperson. However, not all runways are being fully utilized yet.

According to the Federal Police, several demonstrators had entered the premises early in the morning and had glued themselves to the security area. Passengers were initially asked not to visit the airport yet and to check the status of their flights in advance on the websites of the airlines.

The group Letzte Generation X announced that they had managed to gain access to the runways. "Further promotion and combustion of Oil, Gas and Coal is a threat to our existence," the activists wrote in a post. We have united internationally: Out of Fossil Fuels by 2030!» A police spokesperson initially made no statements about the number of activists.

After the obstruction caused by Climate Activists, Air traffic at Frankfurt Airport's Main runway gradually returned to normal in the morning. Despite the partial resumption, some runways were still not operating at full capacity due to the disruption. The Climate Activists, who had entered the airport premises early in the morning, had glued themselves to the security area, causing significant delays for some flights.
