Bleichloch Dam - After ship accident: Operators expect high costs

After the collision of a passenger ship on the Bleichlochtalsperre in the Saale-Orla-District, the operators estimate damages in the high five-figure range. This is due to repair costs and losses, said Heike Anders, managing director of Marina Saalburg GmbH. Technicians are supposed to take a look at the damage today. Previously, the "Ostthuringer Zeitung" and the "Mitteldeutsche Rundfunk" reported on the collision.

On Saturday, the propeller of the passenger ship MS Gera in Saalburg-Ebersdorf was damaged shortly after starting. The ship could no longer be steered and touched the ground. No one was injured. However, a small amount of oil had leaked out, said Anders. The cause of the accident must still be clarified. Divers had already inspected the damage on Saturday.

In light of the recent incident, Thuringia's Tourism industry might face temporary challenges due to the wreck of the passenger ship MS Gera. The collision and resulting damage in Saalburg-Ebersdorf could potentially deter some shipping activities in the area.
