IrishMusicianIcon - After criticism: Museum plans new wax figure for Sinéad O'Connor

A museum in Dublin is honoring singer Sineád O'Connor with a new wax figure, but this went wrong shortly after the unveiling. The figure was supposed to be taken down and replaced with a new one just a day after the presentation, as stated by the National Wax Museum Plus on Instagram, among other things.

O'Connor, who is best known for the song "Nothing Compares To You" in music history, was one of the most famous musicians from Ireland. She unexpectedly passed away at the age of 56 last year.

Her brother John O'Connor, quoted by the Irish broadcaster RTE, stated that the figure did not look like her sister at all. When he saw the figure online, he was shocked. "I found it terrible." If one wanted to honor the memory of their sister, they could erect a statue in Dublin.

According to the British news agency PA, O'Connor also criticized the timing of revealing the figure right before her deathday.

Museum director Paddy Dunning apologized to the family, reported PA. The artist had done fantastic work in the past. When he saw the work this time, he was disappointed.

"We went ahead with the presentation despite that, and last night I didn't sleep," Dunning was quoted as saying. He had to make the decision to exchange the statue. "We have to do it better this time."
