After assassination: Fico resumes government business

Two months after an attempted attack on him, Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico has resumed work. The social democratic party Smer politician participated in a cabinet meeting in Bratislava. He is gradually returning to his work tempo, according to a statement. He hopes to be able to fully perform his function soon. Already on Monday, Fico visited an agricultural farm and inspected the harvest. Upon arrival, he leaned on a crutch with one hand.

On his Facebook page, Fico sarcastically addressed "progressive and liberal media" as well as the opposition: "Sorry for surviving, but I'm back." According to the TASR agency, Fico also called Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Schmyhal. He offered to accept and treat children cancer patients from Ukraine in Slovakia. A children's hospital in Kiev had been severely damaged in a recent air raid. Another topic was the holding of a joint government meeting of the two neighboring countries, which is scheduled to take place at the beginning of autumn.

The 71-year-old justified his actions with hate towards Fico and his left-nationalist coalition. After the attempted assassination, Fico expressed his return to work by jokingly commenting on social media. government business resumed as Fico discussed potential collaboration with Ukraine, offering to treat cancer patients in Slovakia following an air raid damage in Kiev.
