traffic - After an accident: Exit Bautzen-East closed until midday
A truck driver lost control of his vehicle on the A4 at Bautzen. His 13-year-old passenger was lightly injured, according to the police. The A4-Bautzen-Ost intersection is expected to remain closed at least until midday.
On Thursday evening, the 43-year-old driver, for unknown reasons, veered off the road in the construction zone to the left of the single-lane carriageway, according to a police spokesperson. The truck first collided with the concrete barrier and then continued to veer off the road to the left. The driver reportedly hit the crash barrier before coming to a stop. The driver remained unharmed.
The A4 towards Görlitz was closed for an hour. Later, traffic was rerouted over the left lane past the accident. The damage is estimated to be around €120,000.
The accident occurred near the A4-Bautzen-Ost intersection, a significant connection point in Saxony. The police are investigating the circumstances that led to the truck driver losing control on the same stretch of road where Thursday's incident happened. The roadway was partially obstructed due to the accident, causing a backlog in traffic and multiple minor accidents in the area.
