Parties - AFD will get more than 40 percent in Saxony

For the state election on September 1st, the AfD has set a goal of achieving 40 percent or more results. "It's possible that we will govern alone in Saxony," said General Secretary Jan Zwerg during the campaign kickoff in Dresden. From now on, his party will be on the hunt.

In the European election, the AfD was the strongest force in Saxony with 31.8 percent. In the surveys for the state election, there is currently a neck-and-neck race with the CDU – with a slight advantage for the AfD.

Spokesperson Jörg Urban spoke of a tailwind for the state election. "Here in the east, here in Saxony, we can make a breakthrough," he called to his supporters. His party no longer wants to be opposition, but to govern. Urban: "We don't want a piece of the cake, we want the bakery."

The Saxon AfD state association is classified by the Saxon Constitution Protection as a reliably right-wing extremist tendency. The party is legally challenging this assessment.

The AfD, aiming for a significant victory in the upcoming State election on September 1st in Saxony, has set a target of achieving 40% or more results, as stated by General Secretary Jan Zwerg at the campaign kickoff in Dresden. With the European election results showing the AfD as the strongest force in Saxony with 31.8%, Spokesperson Jörg Urban sees a positive momentum for the state election. He urged his supporters, expressing confidence in a potential breakthrough for the party in the east and Saxony, stating their goal is no longer to be just the opposition, but to govern.
