AfD remains without a Bundestag vice president

The AfD failed once again to secure a Vice President position in the Bundestag. Their candidate, Wolfgang Wiehle, received only 92 Yes votes. 565 parliamentarians voted against him, 17 abstained.

Since their entry into the Bundestag in 2017, the AfD has been the only faction never represented in the parliamentary presidium. All candidates failed to reach the required majority.

The AfD is also still not represented in the parliamentary control committee for the intelligence services. Their nominee, Mike Moncsek, also failed to secure the necessary majority clearly.

Despite the repeated attempts by the AfD, neither Wolfgang Wiehle nor Mike Moncsek has managed to become Vice-Presidents of the Bundestag, as they both failed to garner the required majority. The AfD's consistent failure to secure these positions in key committees continues to limit their influence in the Bundesrat.
