- Aerosmith is quitting touring.

Legendary US rock band Aerosmith has decided to no longer go on tour. The farewell tour planned for fall and winter has also been canceled, as announced on their website and social media channels. The reason is an irreparable vocal cord injury of singer Steven Tyler (76). "We've made a heart-wrenching and difficult, but necessary decision - as a band of brothers - to step away from the touring stage."

Founded in Boston in 1970, the band had already started their farewell tour in North America last year, but had to pause it due to Tyler's vocal cord injury. He had sustained the injury during a show. Since then, the band has shared that Tyler has been working to get his voice back to where it was before the injury.

"We always wanted to blow you away when we hit the stage. As you know, Steven's voice is an instrument like no other. But it's clear now that a full recovery isn't possible. We've seen him push himself, even with the best medical team by his side."

The end of an era on stage

Aerosmith had worldwide success, especially in the 80s and 90s, with hits like "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing", "Crazy", "Livin' On The Edge", "Amazing", or "Janie's Got A Gun". "We are incredibly grateful for everyone who wanted to join us one last time on tour", the band wrote. "A final thank you to you - the best fans on the planet. Play our music loud, now and forever."

With the band's announcement, a chapter of music history comes to an end. But not quite - Aerosmith is not breaking up, according to a manager quoted by the "New York Times". They're just saying goodbye to the touring stage. Fans who have already bought tickets will receive a refund. According to the "New York Times", several stadium shows in the US and Canada were planned between September and February as part of the "Peace Out" farewell tour.

Despite initiating their farewell tour in North America last year, Aerosmith had to postpone it due to vocal cord injuries suffered by singer Steven Tyler during a performance. Originally, the band had planned to conclude their touring career in North America, covering various venues in the fall and winter.
