Adolescent, aged 15, orchestrates bus abduction through ingenious tactic

In the transportation association of Bremen and Lower Saxony, a teenager claimed to pull off a bus hijack for the second time in quick succession. At first, it appeared like his devious scheme was on track. But eventually, things took an unexpected turn.

According to police reports, a 15-year-old from Bremen attempted to operate a public bus once more. This time, however, his plan backfired. Pretending to be an employee of the security service for the Bremen/Lower Saxony transport association (VBN), the teenager stepped onto a bus in Delmenhorst, as per the police.

He announced to the 32-year-old bus driver that the teenager who had illegally driven a bus in Bremen earlier in August was a passenger on the bus. Equipped with a headset, he ordered the bus driver to halt the vehicle and allow all passengers to disembark. According to the police, the bus driver obeyed the instructions. However, when the bogus VBN employee attempted to carry on driving, the bus driver raised an alarm. The ruse was exposed when the police and a representative from the bus company arrived at the scene.

The 15-year-old was recognized by the police as the same boy responsible for driving a bus with passengers in Bremen earlier in August. At the time, he had presented himself as a trainee from a bus company to a bus driver and resumed his journey alone after the tour. When he reached a bus stop, he convinced unwitting passengers that he was a regular bus driver. The police had previously reported that the boy was autistic and had a passion for vehicles and technology.

Since the teenager did not actually drive the bus in Delmenhorst, it is unlikely that he will face legal repercussions, according to the police report. The 15-year-old was collected by his father from the police station in Delmenhorst.

The teenager's attempted bus hijack occurred in Delmenhorst, which is also part of Bremen and Lower Saxony. This repeat offense by the boy from Bremen was thwarted by the vigilance of the bus driver and the authorities.
