Administrator for insolvency proposes remedies for present and upcoming travel packages.
Following the financial downfall of travel company FTI, the insolvency administrator is focusing on finding solutions for the ongoing and upcoming package tours from a tour organizer in Munich. The immediate concern is for the around 60,000 tourists who are currently on their way to their destinations.
"Our number one priority is to ensure these travelers can smoothly finish their vacations and return home in a secure manner," said the interim insolvency administrator, Axel Bierbach, in a statement on Wednesday.
Though the process seems to be progressing well, with personnel on site to facilitate, trips that were scheduled to start from Wednesday to Monday had to be scrapped by FTI. For trips that were scheduled to kick off afterwards, the administrator is exploring different options in hopes that they can be carried out by other travel service providers.
"We're exerting every effort to resolve these cancellations and find suitable alternatives as quickly as possible," said Bierbach, noting that potential solutions could be in place from July 1 onwards.
