At a severe car accident in the south of Saxony-Anhalt, three young people have died. According to the police, the car, in which a total of five people were sitting, left the road in the night to Monday on a country road near Naumburg in a curve. The car had reportedly rolled down a slope and collided with a tree.

Two 19-year-old women and a 21-year-old man died according to police reports at the scene of the accident. The 18-year-old passenger and the 43-year-old driver were lightly injured.

According to the police, there were indications of alcohol consumption by the driver. However, the result of the blood draw is still pending, the police announced on Monday morning.

The investigations into the exact cause of the accident are still ongoing. According to the latest knowledge, no further vehicle was involved. The Landstraße 204 was closed for several hours due to recovery measures.
