Crime - Accident during flight for fuel fraud - two injured

After not paying a bill over 100 Euro at a gas station in Thanstein (Landkreis Schwandorf), a man in a car fled directly in front of an employee and then drove off the road. The 32-year-old slid with the car into a ditch on Sunday, flipped over and ended up on the roof, according to a police statement. After the accident, the 32-year-old and his passenger fled on foot into a cornfield. There, officers took the men into custody. They were slightly injured in the accident.

According to police reports, besides the gas station theft, another reason for the escape was that the driver was under the influence of sedatives.

The incident occurred in the District Schwandorf, specifically in the Landkreis of Thanstein, which is part of Bavaria's Upper Palatinate. Due to the accident, the police were notified and arrived at the gas station. Despite the crash, the driver and his passenger chose to evade the authorities by fleeing into a nearby cornfield. The automotive incident led to an increase in criminality in the area, as it involved a stolen bill and potential drug use.
