At Spandau Station, a person has been provisionally arrested in connection with the manhunt for two former RAF terrorists. The operation on Tuesday was conducted jointly with the Federal Police following a tip from the public, a spokesperson for the Lower Saxony State Criminal Police Office (LKA) said. The identification of the person is currently underway, but the spokesperson could not specify how long this process will take.

According to a report by "Bild", the informant recognized the man, who was sitting in an ICE train, as Ernst-Volker Staub. The LKA spokesperson only stated that the arrest is related to the search for Burkhard Garweg (55) and Ernst-Volker Staub (69).

The Federal Police Directorate in Berlin reported that a man was provisionally arrested during a routine check on Tuesday around 9:00 PM. He is currently in custody in Berlin, a spokesperson said.

The public prosecutor's office in Verden has been investigating the former RAF terrorists Staub, Daniela Klette, and Garweg since 2015 for attempted murder and attempted and completed serious robbery in several cases. Klette was arrested at the end of February in Berlin-Kreuzberg. The police, led by the LKA Niedersachsen, had been searching for her for decades. The search for Staub and Garweg continues. They belonged to the so-called third generation of the left-wing extremist Red Army Faction (RAF). In 1998, the RAF, which had killed more than 30 people, declared itself dissolved.

The person provisionally arrested at Spandau Station is being linked to the ongoing investigation involving former RAF terrorists Burkhard Garweg and Ernst-Volker Staub. The Federal Police Directorate in Berlin confirmed the arrest of a suspect related to the manhunt for these RAF members.
