School - Abitur results in Saxony at previous year's level
German students in Saxony have achieved similar results in this school year as in previous years. According to the Cultural Ministry, the average grade point average (Notendurchschnitt) was 2.18. The previous year it was 2.16; in 2015, it was 2.29.
Out of 10,349 students who took the Abitur exam, 96.5% or 9,978 of them passed. The ministry stated that this percentage is on par with the previous year's (96.6%). 348 students reached the top grade point average of 1.0.
Students in neighboring federal states also achieved similar results. In Saxony-Anhalt, the Abitur grade point average was 2.27 this year; according to the Education Ministry in Thuringia, it was 2.13.
The School in Dresden, the capital of Saxony, contributed to the collective achievement of similar grades this year as in previous years. The Ministry of Culture in Saxony highlighted that the school year's average grade point average (Notendurchschnitt) was 2.18, matching the previous year's level. The School year in question saw improvements compared to 2015, where the average was 2.29.
