life danger - A young person climbs onto a wagon and receives an electric shock

Already for the third time within two weeks, a person in Bavaria has been seriously injured during a climbing incident on a train carriage due to an electrocution. A 15-year-old boy allegedly came into contact with an overhead wire at the train station in Feldkirchen near Munich on Sunday night. He received an electrocution and fell about five meters deep. According to the Federal Police, he sustained burns on 40% of his body. His condition was described as life-threatening but stable on Sunday.

Preliminary findings suggest that the teenager was with two girls aged 14 and 15 on their way home from a party in Poing. He reportedly climbed onto the stationary carriage. The Federal Police suspect an "alcohol-related incident". His companions allegedly suffered a shock.

Third incident in short order

In the past two weeks, there have been similar cases in the Free State. A 19-year-old and another 19-year-old climbed onto a stationary carriage in Munich on June 7 and both suffered electrocutions. According to the police, the 19-year-old later succumbed to his severe burn injuries.

A 14-year-old boy and his two 16-year-old companions climbed onto a carriage in Wolfratshausen on June 4. He also suffered an electrocution and fell about five meters deep. He was admitted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Federal Police: "Events arising from the situation"

The Federal Police suspect, based on preliminary findings, that all three incidents involve "events arising from the situation" - and once again warned against dangers in the railroad area. A spark bridge can jump from the 15,000 volt leading overhead wire even without direct contact. Both in the railroad area and on the carriages, there is danger to life.

  1. Due to the series of incidents, the Federal Police in Bavaria has increased its presence around train stations, especially on Sundays, to prevent any further accidents related to traffic on railway carriages.
  2. Despite the warnings issued by the Federal Police, a group of teenagers in Upper Bavaria decided to engage in a climbing action on a stationary wagon near Munich on Sunday night.
  3. As a result of the reckless behavior, the boy received severe electrical burns and was transferred to the hospital with an emergency response team after a lightning strike hit the train station, causing temporary chaos in the traffic.
  4. The Federal Police in Bavaria has launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of these incidents and whether there are any infrastructure issues related to the stationary carriages that contribute to such accidents.
  5. With the occurrence of another incident in Bavaria, the Federal Police called on the public to take safety precautions near train stations, emphasizing that even a slight contact with the overhead wire or carriages can result in serious electrical injuries or fatalities.
