Some individuals were successfully rescued from the water at around ten o'clock in the evening on Tuesday, and they were found to be in good health. However, initial reports indicated that one person was missing, as stated by the rescue services. The lady was found dead the following morning by a coast guard vessel about 500 meters away from the incident site, and her demise was confirmed on the spot, according to Norwegian news agency NTB, referring to the police.

The Viking Venture

She was depicted in Norwegian and Faroese publications as an American or Mexican citizen residing in Florida, who was 29 years old.

The six daring individuals had embarked on a mission to sail and row from the Faroe Islands to Norway using the refurbished Viking ship as part of the "The Viking Expedition" event. With an approximately 500 nautical miles (around 930 kilometers) long journey in the unmotorized, open ship "Naddoddur", the Swiss captain and expedition leader Andy Fitze and his crew aimed to breathe life into the captivating realm of the Vikings and maritime history, as reported by the Faroese media outlet Local.fo. They had set sail from Tvøroyri on the Faroese island of Suduroy during the weekend in the roughly ten-meter-long wooden vessel.

Despite their determination, the treacherous North Sea proved to be a formidable challenge for the crew during "The Viking Expedition." Regrettably, the unfortunate incident occurred on their journey from the Faroe Islands, putting an end to their voyage in the Viking ship "Naddoddur," which was heading towards Norway.
