Due to thunderstorms, fire departments in Thuringen have been called out to smaller incidents. In the city of Schleusingen, a lightning strike hit a tree, as the city announced on Facebook. The tree must be felled in the coming week. This will result in traffic restrictions. According to a report from MDR, the lightning strike also affected the electronics at the adjacent swimming pool. An employee who was working at the computer there was reportedly taken to the emergency room as a precaution. According to most control rooms, the fire departments have so far been called out to smaller incidents.

Increased weather-related accidents

There have been increased weather-related accidents on the autobahns as well. According to the police, a 50-year-old man lost control of his car on the wet road of the A38. Between the interchanges Heilbad Heiligenstadt and Arenshausen (both in the Eichsfeld district), the car then left the road and collided several times against the median barrier. It then collided with another car on the right lane. An eight-year-old child from the second car sustained light injuries. The German Weather Service (DWD) warned of heavy thunderstorms in numerous districts in the late morning and afternoon. Among those affected and in part still are the Saale-Holzland-District, Altenburger Land District, Sömmerda District, and Weimarer Land District. The danger of lightning strikes, falling trees, and individual flooding existed.
