A Russian couple in Australia arrest SPD (Spying)

Due to the accusation of spying for Moscow, a Russian couple has been arrested in Australia. The 62-year-old man and his 40-year-old wife, both of whom are Australian citizens, are accused of gaining access to military documents related to national security, as the Australian police announced.

The suspects, who have lived in Australia for more than ten years, were reportedly arrested at their home in Brisbane on a Thursday. They are charged with "preparation of a spying offense." If convicted, they face up to 15 years in prison.

The 40-year-old woman, according to police statements, had worked as an IT specialist for the Australian army for several years. During a long-term leave, she reportedly traveled "unannounced" to Russia and told her husband how he could log into her work account. Her husband then allegedly sent her the requested material from Russia. Whether the data was actually passed on to Russian institutions is part of the investigation.

The spy accusations against the couple have sparked concerns about Security within the Australian government. This incident highlights the potential threat of Russian-stemmed activities in Australia's National sphere. The arrest of the married couple, both Australian citizens, has brought attention to the seriousness of such issues.
