A Russian attempted an attack on an officer

After the bombing of a Russian officer in Moscow, a man confesses. He was allegedly commissioned by Ukraine. However, there are doubts about the authenticity of the statements in the video with his confession.

The Russian state news agency RIA Novosti disseminates a video in which a Russian citizen admits to the bombing of an officer this week and claims he acted on behalf of the Ukrainian Domestic Intelligence Service SBU. The man, shown in handcuffs, confesses to building and installing the car bomb. The statements cannot be independently verified. No comment has been made from Ukraine as of yet.

In the video, the man claims he was recruited by the Ukrainian secret service last year and ordered to "kill an officer."

At the request of his superior, he had collected the components for building a bomb and then placed the explosive device under the vehicle. As a reward, he was promised Ukrainian citizenship and 10,000 to 20,000 dollars. The video has been edited in several places.

The Russian newspaper "Kommersant" reported on Wednesday that an officer of the Military Intelligence Service in northern Moscow had been injured by a car bomb. Other media described him as an officer of the regular military. According to the Interior Ministry, both he and his wife were injured in the explosion. A criminal investigation has been launched.

Film footage showed a Toyota Land Cruiser parked in front of a housing complex that exploded. Turkish authorities announced on Wednesday evening that they had detained a Russian citizen upon arrival from Moscow in Bodrum.

Despite the video's release, Ukraine has yet to explicitly acknowledge or deny the attempts made by their secret services in relation to the Ukraine-Conflict and the bombing incident in Moscow. Russia is questioning the credibility of the man's confession, citing doubts about the video's authenticity. This situation has caused widespread political tension between Russia and Ukraine.
