A boulder near Oberstdorf, in southern Bavaria, has collapsed onto a hiking trail, trapping a person, according to police reports. Rescue operations were underway as of evening, a spokesperson for the Bavarian Police Headquarters South/West confirmed. The condition of the affected person was initially unknown. It had been raining, but whether this triggered the rockslide remains uncertain, the officer said. He described the rock as weighing several tons.

The hiker was on a trail in the area of the Fellhorn when the rock dislodged near a stream. The gender of the trapped person was initially unknown. Another hiker alerted emergency services. The accident site is not accessible by car.

The hiker was exploring the scenic beauty of Bavaria, specifically the Fellhorn area, when the unfortunate incident occurred. Despite the efforts of rescuers, the trapped individual remained unidentified in terms of gender.
