A Republican self-identified as a "black Nazi."
Mark Robinson continues to garner attention due to controversial statements. This Republican is vying for the governorship in North Carolina, with Trump's backing. However, Robinson is now under fire for his name being linked to a porn site.
The controversy stems from allegations that Robinson referred to himself as a "black Nazi" on a porn site. The Republican governor hopeful has dismissed calls for his resignation, stating, "We're staying in the race." He criticized a CNN report on his controversial remarks as "baseless tabloid lies."
CNN reported that over a decade ago, Robinson described himself as a "pervert" and a "black Nazi" on a site named "Naked Africa." The African American also allegedly wrote that slavery was "not bad... I'd definitely buy a few." Criticism has also surfaced regarding older remarks by Robinson, where he trivialized the Holocaust and praised Adolf Hitler.
Currently serving as North Carolina's lieutenant governor, Robinson is a key player in one of the most closely contested swing states in the U.S. presidential election. He enjoys the support of the Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump. In response to the CNN report on Robinson, a Trump spokesperson stated that their focus is on reclaiming the White House and saving the country, with North Carolina being an essential part of their plan.
Harris and Trump in a tight race
With the U.S. presidential election less than seven weeks away, the competition between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump remains neck and neck. A new poll suggests that Harris leads her Republican opponent in two crucial states for the Democratic candidate. According to the Quinnipiac University survey, released on Wednesday, Harris leads Trump 51% to 45% in Pennsylvania, and the difference is 50% to 45% in Michigan.
While the majority is clear in most states, the outcome of the election often depends on a few critical states. As in the November 5 election, a small number of states can sway the result, and sometimes, only a few thousand votes determine the winner.
Despite the controversy surrounding his controversial remarks, Robinson maintains, "I'm not going to resign." The porn site allegations and his past remarks about slavery and Hitler continue to haunt his campaign for the North Carolina governorship.
In contrast, Harris and Trump are in a tight race, with Harris leading Trump in crucial states like Pennsylvania and Michigan according to a recent poll. Regardless of this lead, the outcome of the election could be determined by a small number of critical states.
