A recently wedded nurse, who had gone missing, was discovered deceased – and her nearby neighbor was apprehended.
Melissa Jubane, aged 32, went missing on a Wednesday, failing to show up for her morning shift as a nurse at Providence St. Vincent Center in Portland. This sparked worry among her colleagues, pals, and relatives, as reported by the Beaverton Police Department in a Saturday morning Facebook update.
Upon inspecting Jubane's apartment in Beaverton, police couldn't locate her. The lack of communication and her absence were seen as peculiar and troubling, stated the post. Repeated attempts by law enforcement and family members to contact Jubane throughout the day proved futile, as her phone appeared to be switched off. Furthermore, examining her bank and credit card records brought no fresh leads about her location.
Following an exhaustive investigation, police pinpointed 27-year-old Bryce Johnathan Schubert as having a role in Jubane's disappearance, as mentioned in the post. Schubert was apprehended on Friday evening, and it was later revealed that Jubane's remains had been discovered.
According to records, Schubert is currently detained at Washington County Jail, potentially facing charges for second-degree murder. Schubert's attorney hasn't been identified by CNN, and his family couldn't be found.
It was disclosed by CNN affiliate KHLN that Jubane had got married just last week.
In response to CNN, Providence Health & Services, which managed the hospital where Jubane worked, stated that Jubane's demise came as a shock to everyone and was deeply mourned by her colleagues. They described Jubane as a phenomenal nurse, dedicated to their Providence Mission, consistently exhibiting virtues of compassion, excellence, and integrity.
Schubert had previously worked as a nurse at another Portland hospital managed by Providence Health & Services, the company declared to CNN.
A friend of Jubane's revealed to CNN affiliate KATU that she loved aiding people, expressing that "she had a massive heart. No matter the predicament or what it was, she was always ready to lend a hand to people."
The Beaverton Police Department confirmed that the investigation into Jubane's death remains ongoing.
Our prayers and concerns continue to be with Melissa's family and friends, as we are all deeply affected by this tragedy. As her colleagues and friends, we miss her dearly and are grieving her loss.
In times like these, it's important that we rally together as a community and offer our support to each other, especially to Melissa's immediate family and friends [us].
