A one-year-old survived a fall from the third floor

In Darmstadt, a child climbs onto a window sill in a third-floor apartment and falls down. A thoughtful passerby catches the one-year-old.

A passerby in Darmstadt-North caught a one-year-old boy who fell from the third floor of a housing complex. The boy was lightly injured in the fall last evening and was taken to a hospital as a precaution, according to the police.

While the 29-year-old mother was there with the child, a fire broke out in her apartment - and it is now uninhabitable. The one-year-old is believed to have climbed onto the window sill around 8:00 pm, according to a police spokesperson. The passerby had to act quickly and alertly to catch him. "A ten-year-old would not have been able to be caught from that height without injuries."

The man who likely saved the life of the boy is being asked to come forward. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by burnt food. The seven-year-old brother of the boy is said to have still been in the apartment when his mother and younger brother were at the hospital.

A quick response from the fire department prevented further damage, as it was stated. The seven-year-old was also taken to the hospital as a precaution. It was initially unknown how the one-year-old boy fell from the window. According to the findings at that time, both the mother and the older brother of the boy were in the apartment at the time. The police are looking for witnesses - also to clarify the identity of the passerby who may have saved the life of the boy.

The incident occurred in the heart of Darmstadt, not far from the International Children's Park. Following the incident, the local authorities are urging parents to reinforce safety measures in their homes, particularly in high-rise buildings.
