Exceptions - A missing swimmer from the Berzdorfer See lives
The search for a missing swimmer in the Berzdorfer See came to a fortunate end. The man was reportedly found safely at the North Beach by the police in the evening on Sunday. He had apparently abandoned his swimming tour and returned to his sunbathing spot on foot.
On Sunday morning, the man had gone into the water to swim from North to South, according to the Görlitz Police Department. This is a distance of approximately 5 kilometers. His girlfriend reported to the police that he had not returned from the water after four hours. In the afternoon, helpers from Wasserwacht, Water Police, and Fire Department searched for him.
The lake is 960 hectares in size and is located south of Görlitz. It originated from a former brown coal mining pit and is now a popular recreational area.
The woman's emergency call to the Saxony police on Sunday was prompted by her missing partner, who had gone swimming in Berzdorfer See. The discovery of water bottles nearby led to suspicions of a potential emergency situation. Despite the leisurely atmosphere at Nordstrand, the absence of the man sparked concern.
