A mentally ill man is suspected of killing his father in Elsenfeld, Lower Franconia. The 40-year-old called the police himself on a Saturday and waited at the crime scene for officers. A doctor could only confirm the death of the 68-year-old victim. The motives behind the attack were initially unclear, according to police and prosecutors. A possible weapon, a sharp object, was secured. The suspect, who is being investigated for manslaughter, was taken to a psychiatric hospital. Father and son lived in the same house near the Hesse border.

The investigation into the man's criminal actions in Lower Franconia has sparked interest from neighboring regions, with both Hesse and Bavaria closely monitoring the case due to its border proximity. Despite being in a psychiatric hospital, the suspect's actions are still under close scrutiny by police forces in Lower Franconia and beyond.
