A police officer was injured in a knife attack near the Champs-Élysées in central Paris in the evening. The attacker was shot by the police. According to Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, the officer was called for help by the security personnel of a business, following which the attack occurred. Other response teams had immediately subdued the attacker.

As reported by the newspaper "Le Parisien" citing the police, the attacker was first noticed by the staff of a luxury brand store, Louis Vuitton, because he was carrying a knife. When the alerted officers attempted to check the 27-year-old man, he refused to show the contents of his bag. He then pulled out the knife and seriously injured a police officer in the ear and neck region. Another officer then shot and critically wounded the attacker. The man later succumbed to his injuries. The area was widely cordoned off.

On Monday, a mentally ill man had injured a soldier of an anti-terror unit with a knife at Paris Gare de l'Est train station.
