Criminality - A man sentenced to prison for filling up at a gas station incorrectly

A 29-year-old man from Rostock was sentenced to serve several years in prison due to seven gas station robberies. The Rostock Regional Court announced a total sentence of four years and three months.

The jury found it proven, based on the evidence presented, that the accused had robbed gas stations in Gnoien, Bad Doberan, Bruël, Neukloster, and Ribnitz-Damgarten within a few days in the previous December.

The accused had demanded cash and tobacco products at the robberies, holding what appeared to be a realistic and unloaded airsoft pistol. The man expressed remorse and made restitution payments to the affected parties, which were taken into consideration when mitigating the sentence.

The man reportedly accepted the judgment.

Despite his remorse and restitution payments, the Fine District Court in Rostock, located in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, upheld part of the original sentence due to the repeated instances of criminality. The accused's past history of petty crimes in Rostock and nearby towns, such as Waren and Kühlungsborn, also contributed to the severity of the sentence.
