Attempted murder - A man is reported to have stabbed a police officer with a knife

A man is accused of attacking and injuring Federal Police officers with a carpet knife at the main stations in Mannheim and Karlsruhe. The 36-year-old Nigerian suspect is currently in investigative detention, as the prosecutor's office and Federal Police announced today. He was arrested on a warrant at the Hauptbahnhof in Hamm, North Rhine-Westphalia, on a Wednesday.

Previously, the man had injured six Federal Police officers within 18 hours. In one case on a Friday in Karlsruhe, he reportedly approached a student and put his hand on his shoulder. Federal Police officers arrived and the man allegedly resisted violently and bit one officer, causing three other officers to sustain scratches.

In the night, the man is said to have traveled by train without a ticket and was ordered by officers to leave the train at the Karlsruhe Hauptbahnhof. He refused and instead threatened them with death threats. The officers eventually managed to remove him from the train using force.

The suspect allegedly stabbed a Federal Police officer in the head, arm, and hand with a carpet knife. A Federal Policewoman also sustained leg cuts. The attack was reportedly stopped with pepper spray. The officers did not continue their duty and sought medical treatment instead. According to the latest investigations, the suspect did not injure himself by holding the knife, the Federal Police confirmed in writing.

The next suspected crime occurred after the man was released. On a Saturday morning, the 36-year-old was caught without a fare in a train to Mannheim. A Federal Police officer, whom the man had grabbed unexpectedly earlier, had subdued him and arrested him. The man was then taken to a special clinic for examination. He was later released again.

All officers are currently on the road to recovery and are expected to resume duty soon.

The suspect's arrest was facilitated by a warrant issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Hamm, North Rhine-Westphalia. The man's alleged actions led to injuries among Federal Police officers, including a case in Mannheim where he assaulted a student and resisted arrest. Furthermore, the Criminality in Baden-Württemberg has been a topic of concern, with incidents occurring at the main stations in both Mannheim and Karlsruhe. The Federal Police have been actively involved in addressing these issues, deploying officers to maintain public safety. In fact, in the city of Manslaughter, there have been instances of assault on law enforcement personnel.
