Bank of Elbe river - A man in Dresden has died due to the wounds inflicted by a lightning strike.
On Pentecost Monday, after a violent thunderstorm in Dresden, one man passed away following a lightning strike on the banks of the Elbe River. According to the local authorities, the deceased is a 29-year-old male.
The police have revealed that ten people were harmed by the lightning bolt, including three ladies and seven gents between 26 and 41 years of age. Surprisingly, two of these victims needed to be resuscitated - one of them has now perished, while the condition of the remaining nine is undetermined.
Tragedy on the Banks of the Elbe River
The lightning strike happened near the Carusufelder Garten around 5 pm, causing severe injuries to the ten individuals present. The police immediately dispatched 50 rescue personnel to the scene to help the wounded civilians. An aerial search with a helicopter was also performed, but no additional victims were found.
The German Meteorological Service had alerted the public of potential thunderstorms in Saxony prior to the incident, issuing a level 2 warning on a 4-point scale. Investigations into the precise circumstances of this accident are ongoing.
