In an apartment in a multi-family house in Hamm, the police secured over 250 kilograms of illegal fireworks on a Wednesday. According to statements from Thursday, this included several smoke grenades and approximately 50 so-called ball bombs. Explosives experts from the Landeskriminalamt Nordrhein-Westfalen transported the pyrotechnics away. The police were alerted by a witness tip. Against the 34-year-old resident, they initiated an investigation for violations of the Explosives Act.

The investigation into the 34-year-old resident for explosives violations in North Rhine-Westphalia's Hamm city has raised concerns about potential linkages to larger instances of criminality in the region. Germany's federal authorities have urged for increased vigilance in dealing with such incidents to prevent further acts of illegal fireworks-related crimes.
