A man gets killed in a shootout with the SEK team in Hamburg.

In a major incident in Hamburg's Rahlstedt district, a man took aim at police officers at a house fire. While the firefighters were busy trying to extinguish the blaze, the man opened fire from his balcony, hitting some of the officers. Once a special police squad known as the SEK arrived, a standoff ensued, culminating in the suspect being killed by the police when he shot at them.

The police were first alerted to this suspicious individual by nearby neighbors who noticed his strange behavior around midnight in the Rahlstedt area. Upon their arrival, the man was said to have targeted the approaching officers, prompting the SEK to be called in. According to the spokesperson for the police force, the man also fired at the SEK team. In response, the officers returned fire, leading to the man's death. It remained unclear at that point what had motivated the man to commit such heinous acts.

Before the police intervention, the firefighters were already on the scene, having been called to a fire that could potentially involve human casualties. The fire department's representative revealed that a report had come in indicating someone was trying to burn another person in bed. Luckily, the victim survived the assault and was treated by the responding paramedics who later found him suffering from smoke inhalation and facial burns. However, their work was interrupted when shots were fired around the scene, causing the firefighters to withdraw.

Before these developments unfolded, several media outlets had released information based on eyewitness reports. It was claimed that the suspect attempted to cause harm to his own father while he was sleeping, but neither the police nor the fire department was willing to confirm this suspicion at the time this account was written.
