Notfalle - A man falls into the Landwehr Canal and drowns

A man fell into the Landwehr Canal in Berlin-Tiergarten and drowned. The police assume it was an accident, as a spokesperson stated. Witnesses observed the man jumping into the water at the height of Cornelius Bridge in the afternoon. He was unable to save himself and went under. Called rescue services searched for the man, with a rescue helicopter also being deployed.

According to the fire department, divers located the man and retrieved him using a boat. Revival attempts were unsuccessful. A criminal investigations team is on site, as per police, to investigate the incident. The reason for the man's fall is still unclear. A total of 36 fire department personnel were on site.

The police notified the emergency services immediately upon receiving the report of the incident. The Fire department and the police worked together to rescue the man from the Landwehr Canal. Despite the efforts of the Fire department, they were unable to revive the man after retrieving him from the water in Berlin.
