A representative for the German political party AfD, Hans-Jürgen Zickler, was assaulted while at an information stand in Dresden. According to party officials, a man viciously struck the 70-year-old Zickler in the face. The spokesperson for AfD Saxony, Andreas Harlaß, reported the altercation. The attacker was apprehended until the police arrived on the scene. A complaint has been filed.

The Dresden Police department confirmed the incident, which occurred at a polling station. They recorded the personal details of the assailant, a 47-year-old man. The suspect will be investigated for the crime of inflicting bodily harm. For privacy reasons, the police have withheld the name of the suspect.
