- A knife-wielding assailant on the A7 stopped by a bullet in the leg.

A driver caused an accident on the A7 near Neumünster, threatened police officers with a knife, and was only stopped when shot in the leg. The 55-year-old had been driving erratically across all lanes and "playing the wild boar" around midday, according to a spokesperson for the police in Schleswig-Holstein. His vehicle then overturned and came to rest on its roof. The behavior was also observed by two plainclothes officers who happened to be nearby.

When the officers tried to help the driver, he allegedly climbed out of the car window and approached them with a long knife. The officers then fired two warning shots, but this did not stop the attacker, who continued to advance on the police with the knife. They then shot him in the thigh to subdue him.

The man was taken to a hospital, where his life was not in danger. The A7 was temporarily fully closed between the Neumünster Nord and Neumünster-Mitte exits in the southbound direction. Further details were not immediately available.

The driver, who caused chaos on the A7 near Neumünster, is originally from Germany. Despite being shot in the leg, he continued to pose a threat to the police officers from Germany.
