- A German yacht leads to the demise of a 20-year-old individual off the coast of Mallorca, uninterruptedly continuing its journey.

A substantial-sized yacht, displaying the German flag, crashed into a modest fishing vessel housing three leisure anglers off the shores of Mallorca, at a high velocity. Unfortunately, one of the anglers didn't survive the incident, as verified by authorities, as mentioned in media outlets.

The over 20-meter-long motor yacht reportedly carried on its journey post-collision with the roughly 3-meter-long fishing boat nearby Cala Bona on a Friday evening, according to regional publications "Mallorca Zeitung" and "Mallorca Magazin". The authorities verified that the yacht was spotted in Porto Cristo's harbor, and the captain was under investigation.

Collision after dusk in Mallorca

Initially, a police representative refrained from sharing the captain's identity, attributing it to ongoing investigations. There are suspicions of negligent homicide and failing to provide aid, as stated by both publications.

According to "Mallorca Zeitung", the collision occurred around 21:45, following sunset. The fishing boat was illuminated. The deceased was a 20-year-old local Mallorcan, fishing for squid along with his uncle and another minor. As reported, the victim was stationed next to the motor at the time of the crash and was struck with full force, the newspaper claimed. Fortunately, the other two individuals on the boat remained unhurt. The yacht was identified as a Riva 66 Ribelle with dark blue finishing.

Just recently, media frenzy arose over a Mallorcan taxi driver being violently assaulted by a gang of German police officers, leaving him in need of hospital care. According to DPA sources, officers from Essen were on holiday in Mallorca and were allegedly involved. All officers involved were permitted to return to Germany.

The investigations into the yacht captain's actions are focused on charges of negligent homicide and failing to provide aid, given the serious accident. The unfortunate incident resulted in the loss of a 20-year-old local angler, who was fatally struck during the collision.
