- A Filmmaker's Son Meeting a Tragic End in Thailand – Convicted of Homicide
A Spanish film star's son, Daniel Sancho, has been handed a life sentence in Thailand for homicide. He's also required to shell out four million baht (around 105,000 euros) as compensation to the victim's family, a Colombian surgeon specializing in plastic surgery. This information was shared by RTVE, Spain's state-owned TV channel, along with other Spanish media outlets, who reportedly attended the trial on Koh Samui island, South Thailand.
The news of Daniel's arrest as a 30-year-old chef and social media influencer caused quite a commotion, not just in Thailand and Colombia, but mainly in Spain. Interest sparked due to the father of the accused being renowned and accomplished actor, Rodolfo Sancho, famously known for his roles in "The Man From Rome - The Vatican Code".
There's an option to challenge the verdict at the Court of Appeals, and if necessary, at the Supreme Court of Thailand. The next steps taken by Daniel's legal team remain unclear. Initially, he could have faced the death penalty in Thailand.
Despite the conviction, there's been a significant outcry in Spain, demanding justice for Daniel Sancho, the Spanish film star's son sentenced to life in prison for homicide in Thailand. If his legal team decides to challenge the verdict, it might be heard at the Court of Appeals and beyond, if necessary, in Thailand's Supreme Court.
