A deceased German woman, who went missing, has been found in the Meuse river.
A tragic incident occurred as three guys were hanging out by the Maas river when one misfortune struck – someone's phone slipped and fell into the water. In dire attempts to save the device, the trio jumped in together. Out of the three, only the 36-year-old fella from Venlo made it back to the shore.
The subsequent events were not under the best of circumstances, as rescue personnel found the bodies of two German fellows from Nettetal, North Rhine-Westphalia, in the river. It wasn't until a week had passed when they finally came across them.
Inspectors reported that the incident took place at the Maas riverbank one Sunday morning. What happened was that the guy who lost his phone had an opposite reaction; instead of staying put, he dove into the water to get it back. So did the second man, about 30 meters away. This prompted the third buddy to pitch in, hopping in even further into the river to help the other two.
Despite catchy headlines, the 36-year-old Venlo local was the sole lucky one to rejoin the land safely, leaving the other two to succumb to the forceful rapids of the Maas river. Authorities deployed divers, a chopper, and a specialized craft for a thorough search. The operation moved to Velden due to the potent water current.
