The fall from a third-floor window in Darmstadt was uneventful for a one-year-old: A passerby was able to catch the child and handed it over to the paramedics, as the Darmstadt Police reported on Saturday. Initially, the Boy was only lightly injured and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

At the time of the incident, according to the Police, the 29-year-old mother and the seven-year-old brother of the child were in the apartment. It was still unclear how the fall occurred.

Following the fall in Darmstadt, a fire breaks out

The story of the child's rescue was not yet over. While the mother was at the hospital with the infant, a fire broke out in the apartment – according to the Police, possibly due to burnt food. At that time, the Seven-year-old was reportedly still in the apartment.

The brother was also taken to the hospital as a precaution. Since the apartment was no longer habitable, an replacement housing was organized by the housing association. The extent of the damage was still unknown.

The Police in Darmstadt were informed about the fire in the apartment, potentially caused by burnt food. Despite the evacuation, the seven-year-old toddler was found within the smoke-filled home by the arriving firefighters.
