A Berlin doctor is accused of killing four patients

In Berlin, a palliative care doctor may have killed several women under his care. According to the prosecutor's office, there are four victims aged between 72 and 94 years old. The man allegedly attempted to cover up his actions by setting fires.

A 39-year-old palliative care doctor has been arrested in Berlin on suspicion of manslaughter in four cases. As reported by the police, the man has been in custody since Tuesday. He is suspected of working for a care service and trying to conceal his actions by setting fires.

The prosecutor's office suspects that between June 11 and July 24, the man killed four patients, who were being cared for by the service, in their homes. He then allegedly set fire to the apartments to cover up his actions.

The suspected victims are four women aged between 72 and 94 years old. In three cases, the man succeeded in setting a fire after the killing. In the case of an 87-year-old woman, whom the suspect is alleged to have killed on June 11, the emergency services were able to revive her initially. She later died in the hospital.

On July 8, he is said to have killed a 76-year-old woman in her apartment in Berlin-Neukölln. In this case, the attempt to set a fire failed. The man then allegedly informed the woman's relatives, claiming that he was standing outside the apartment and she was not responding to his ringing. The other two victims, a 72-year-old and a 94-year-old woman, also lived in Neukölln and in the Berlin district of Plänterwald.

The arrest of the suspect has sparked calls for justice, as the community grapples with the allegations of his suspected crimes against vulnerable elderly women. If found guilty, the man may face significant consequences, including a lengthy prison sentence and restitution to the victims' families.
