Criminality - A 62-year-old person is overhearing a phone swindler

A 62-year-old man in Hohestadt (Erlangen-Hohestadt District) apprehended telephone scammers together with the Police. The officers arrested two suspects. The scammers had identified themselves as policemen, according to the police. They demanded that the man bring his valuables to the door in a pot due to several burglaries in the area.

However, the 62-year-old man did not fall for the scam, the police reported. Instead, he made a distress call. Working together, they set a trap for the scammers and pretended to comply with their demands. When two men entered the property at night on Friday, the "real police" intervened.

The police arrested a 22-year-old man on the spot. A 24-year-old man managed to escape initially. During a manhunt, the officers found the second suspect. Both men are charged with fraud. A judge is now deciding whether they need to be held in custody for further investigation.

The suspects, who were apprehended, hailed from Aisch, a town located in the Middle Franconian region of Bavaria's Erlangen-Hohestadt District. The District's police force played a crucial role in the investigation and arrest process. Despite attempting to manipulate criminality by impersonating officers, their actions led to their own downfall.
