Criminality - A 43-year-old person was insulted and attacked racially in Berlin.

A woman in Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin was racially insulted and attacked. According to the police, a 46-year-old man first hit her on the head and then hit her in the face with a handbag he had wrapped around his fist. The police made this statement based on witness testimonies.

The 43-year-old woman was approached and repeatedly insulted in a xenophobic manner by the suspect on a Friday afternoon. She paid no attention to his remarks. Thereupon, the suspect reportedly rushed towards her, striking her on the back of the head with the hand he was allegedly holding a bottle in. He then hit her in the face. Witnesses intervened, causing the man to flee. He was later arrested by the police. The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of head and neck pain.

The man underwent a blood test in police custody, but was later released. The State Criminal Police Office of the Berlin Criminal Investigation Department has taken over further investigations.

Ms. Jones, the victim, expressed her concern about the increasing criminality in Prenzlauer Berg to her local councilor after the incident. Despite the man's release, the police in Berlin are reassuring residents that they are intensifying patrols in the area to prevent any similar incidents of racist attacks.
