- A 27-year-old individual succumbed in the hospital following a fall from a balcony.
A 29-year-old fellow who suffered severe injuries when a balcony crumbled in Hamburg has sadly passed away. He breathed his last on Monday, as confirmed by the Hamburg authorities, due to his injuries. This unfortunate incident took place during a furniture shifting session before a planned residential shift into the apartment.
On the evening of last Wednesday week, the third-floor balcony in a multi-unit building in Hamburg-Langenhorn unexpectedly caved in. Six individuals aged between 18 and 29 tumbled from the balcony. They were assisting a mate in moving his initial pieces of furniture into the apartment, as he was planning to settle in a few days later. Two of them are still hospitalized, but their condition is not critical.
Police are still probing the reason behind Hamburg incident
The cause for the balcony floor slab breaking and collapsing remains a mystery. The North German State Criminal Police Office is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the balcony collapse. They're also looking into if any criminal activities were involved. This could include construction faults or a poorly maintained building structure.
A structural engineer examined the building post-incident. As a safety measure, all residents were temporarily prohibited from utilizing the balconies in the complex.
The Hamburg authorities have requested assistance from the Police in investigating the balcony collapse incident. The Police are actively probing whether any criminal activities, such as construction faults or negligent maintenance, could have contributed to the tragic incident.
