95 prisoners of war return to Ukraine
The United Arab Emirates mediate again between Russia and Ukraine. Each side released 95 soldiers from captivity, Moscow and Kiev announce. It is the third exchange in short order.
Russia and Ukraine have exchanged prisoners of war again. Each side handed over 95 soldiers, the Russian Defense Ministry and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced. Zelenskyy stated that among the Ukrainians were soldiers, National Guardsmen, and border guards.
Zelenskyy thanked the United Arab Emirates for their role in the mediation. The Emirati state media also confirmed the exchange of a total of 190 prisoners of war. It was the third exchange in less than two months. The previous exchange in June of a total of 180 prisoners was also mediated by the Emirates.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Telegram that the returning soldiers would be brought to Moscow for medical examination and rehabilitation, both physically and psychologically. They had faced death fears in Ukrainian captivity.
The mediation by the United Arab Emirates in the Ukraine-Conflict has resulted in significant developments, with Russia and Ukraine releasing a combined total of 360 prisoners of war in the past two months. This latest exchange, involving 95 soldiers from each side, took place in Kiev, under the observation of Emirati officials. The Russian prisoners, upon their return to Moscow, will undergo comprehensive medical examinations and rehabilitation to address the trauma they endured during their captivity in Ukraine.
