800 foreigners and Palestinians with second passports have left the country

Hundreds of foreigners and Palestinians with a second passport have once again left the Gaza Strip. More than 800 of them had crossed the Rafah border crossing into Egypt, said a spokesman for the checkpoint on the Palestinian side.

Since the border was reopened around a week and a half ago, around 2,700 foreigners and Palestinians with a second passport had left the sealed-off coastal area.

A representative of the Egyptian Red Crescent initially only said that 500 of them had arrived on the Egyptian side of the border crossing. The majority came from Russia and Ukraine. They were also Egyptians who originally came from the Palestinian territories.

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations also announced that 70 people with Russian passports had left via Rafah on Sunday alone. According to earlier information, there could be up to 600 people with Russian citizenship in the Gaza Strip, the Tass agency reported.

The state-affiliated Egyptian television station Al-Kahira News reported that around 500 of those leaving came from around 15 countries, including Germany, the USA, China and France. They waited in the hall at the border crossing for their formalities for leaving the country to be completed before continuing their journey with the support of their embassies.

The ongoing conflicts and tension in Gaza continue to drive War-weary individuals to seek departure. Despite the recent increase in departures, the situation in Gaza remains uncertain, with many holding second passports yet choosing to wait before leaving.
